Abolition of the Urban Council and repeal of Ordinances No.7 of 1935 and No.35 of 1939.

Commencement.

In the event of his ceasing to contribute, or in the

event of any contribution due from him not having been paid

for six months, his widow or his widow and children, as the

case may be, shall be entitled after his death only to a

pension computed on the basis of the interest acquired by

such contributor at the date of his being transferred or of

his ceasing to contribute, in accordance with the Tables attached to the said Ordinance.

164. All such by-laws, rules, orders and regulations

contained in any Ordinance or made by the Governor-in-Council,

the Urban Council or any other authority concerning any

powers, duties and functions transferred to the Council by

or in pursuance of this Ordinance as are in force at the

time of such transfer, shall, so far as they relate to or

are in pursuance of the powers, duties and functions so

transferred, continue in force as if they had been made by

the Council, subject, nevertheless, to revocation or

alteration by the Council in the manner in which by-laws can

be made, revoked or altered by the Council, and also to any

exceptions or modifications which may be made at the time of

the transfer.

165. The Urban Council shall be abolished and the

Urban Council Ordinance, 1935, and the Urban Council Amendment

Ordinance, 1939, shall be repealed as from such date as the

Governor shall appoint by Proclamation: Provided that any

reference in any enactment to the Urban Council shall be

construed to refer to the Council constituted under the

provisions of this Ordinance and any reference to a Health

Officer, Inspector or other officer of the Urban Council shall

be construed to refer to a Medical Officer of Health,

Inspector or other officer, as the case may be, appointed by

the Council constituted under the provisions of this Ordinance.

166. Subject to section 9 of the Interpretation

Ordinance, 1911, and except for the purposes of electing,

nominating or appointing the first members of the Council,
